1. HOT PANTS, FLARES AND 70s JEANS
Well, one thing that has remained a common factor in the fashion world over the years are the ever-popular jeans. No matter what your age is, gender, cultural differences, or choices in clothes, almost everyone on this planet owns a pair of jeans. The popularity of denim jeans is something one is very well aware of. Jeans with frayed edges were pretty much in demand. The legs were generally flared towards the bottom which was known as bell bottoms. That is what the 70s was known for. The hipsters that are a staple diet amongst youngsters today, were a part of the 1970s' fashion trends. Apart from this, embroidered jeans or those with metal embellishments were considered to be really haute. There were many others who opted for high-waisted jeans. If you wore jeans, the ends of the pants had to be frayed and worn out or you were not part of 70s fashion. By the mid seventies the trend had turned to flares and then by the late seventies the popular fashion was straight, cigarette cut jeans. Hipsters were popular in the 1970s.

2. JUMPSUIT
This attire was a wardrobe staple that men and women flaunted though you had to have a perfect figure to do so. Surprisingly, they were based on jumpsuits shown on popular science fiction TV shows and movies. Night-out jumpsuits were tailored out of silky fabrics in bright colors and print, and were adorned with eye-catching embellishments. The cut and style was limited, and often focused on tightness. For day wear, jumpsuits were made of denim, cotton and stretch fabric, with comparatively less show. Industry performers from music to movies wore jumpsuits just as present day celebrities like Jennifer Lopez are bringing back the fashion trend redesigned into newer cuts, shapes and colors.

4. FLOPPY HATS
Floppy hats were a fashion essential in the 70s; women tended to have colorful hats which matched their special dresses. These hats were made out of felt and decorated around an earth theme such as flowers, vines, but some women preferred simple ribbon bows. Presently, the floppy hat has been reintroduced in a contemporary vibe to be sold in popular stores like Urban Outfitters. Completely redesigned in trendy materials, shapes, colors and different themes, often paired with chic clothing especially on the runway
4. WRAP DRESS
Diane Von Furstenberg created this daywear dress that was both comfortable and feminine. Its release coincided with 1970s women’s interest in relaxed and stylish garments. Also popular because it flattered all body types and was functional in work and relaxed settings. It was soon seen as a symbol of female empowerment and Diane signified the dress with her support of the movement.
These were some of the fashion trends seen in the 1970s. Even today, such fashionable clothing gear still continues to find a place in many wardrobes. Although, trends keep changing, some things are definitely here to stay.
